A Word to the Parents

For all parents who did not receive the Youth Ministry mailing which included the program letter from myself, the year's schedule, and the volunteer forms, you may download all the info below. My apologies for those of you who did not receive all the info earlier. We have a new system on our computers and when pulling the families for the mailing, some were missed for no apparent reason. The info may also be picked up here at the Church, if you are unable to print it from home.

Thank you!

Peer Ministry Meeting Kick-Off

Hey guys,

I hope you all had a great summer.....I know a lot of you were at our cool camps and other events this summer (CHWC, SPLASH, etc.), and we're super excited to start another school year full of awesome Life Nites. :) Get pumped up!

I just wanted to let you all know that this coming Wednesday, August 24 at 6:30 PM, we are having the first Peer Minister planning meeting of the year to get ready for the Kick-Off on September 11. Start thinking of any ideas for that Life Nite or any other/retreats for the rest of the year. The one thing that Cassi and I talked about doing is a cool intro video (think CHWC) that will pump everyone up at the beginning of each night. Come prepared to start filming that.....so bring any cool props or costumes you may have hidden away. :)

You guys can also sign up for the St. Benedict Youth Yahoo! Group....this basically is a way to send out emails to all the PM's and Core without having to have a ton of email address. It's one email address (stbenedictyouth@yahoogroups.com) with a website too......you have to sign up for it, though. So check out the site here to get on the list:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/stbenedictyouth/

Let me, Cassi, or Eric know if you have any questions! See you all on Wednesday!

Pax Christi,
Katie :)

Pray for Michael

May the soul of Michael Gallagher and all the faithful departed rest in peace. Posted by Picasa

Hi all,

For those of you who haven't heard, Michael Gallagher, a teen in our youth group (just Confirmed last year) died on Monday night. While playing around with some friends he jumped on the hood of a friend's car while she was driving and fell off underneath the car. It was such a tragic accident and I ask you all to pray for the repose of his soul and for the healing of his family. Michael had an older sister Katie (Confirmed 2 years ago), and a younger brother Andrew. His family is devestated and really need our prayers.

Here are the times of services:

Thursday from 6pm-8pm - The viewing at St. Benedict Church. (This is a time to pray for Michael and to visit with his family and friends.
Thursday at 8pm - A short vigil will follow the viewing. This will be led by Father Paul Flood.
Friday at 10:30am - The Funeral will be held here at St. Benedict Church. All are welcome and invited to come.
Sunday at 6pm after the Teen Mass we will pray a Rosary together for Michael.

I NEED YOUR HELP!!!!!

I need teens, parents, and anyone who can help me with the reception following the funeral on Friday. I need people who can help set-up, serve food, clean up and I need teens to help make cookies and such treats. Please email me ASAP if you are able to help.

ALSO = if any of you would like to help with the readings at the vigil please let me know.

Thanks and God Bless you all!

Pax Christi,
Cassi

Whitewater 2005

These are some of the crew that travelled up to Ducktown, TN to blast down the rapids not 1 not 2, but 3 times!!! Yes, they are brave and wet after all the whitewater FUN!!! Posted by Picasa

The trip had lots of bouncing (and sometimes crashing) through the woods to get to our cabin. Many times I wish I was in Nicole's Jeep rather than my lowly car. During the days we fought some cold rains in order to battle it out on the river to see who truely is "King of the Raft". During the nights with some quick thinking and smart purchasing (thanks Jay) we were able to enjoy a warm fire each night even though most wood we'd gathered before was soaked. As every successful trip should end most were comatose on the ride home (as can be seen from the pictures).

Can't wait till next year!

God Bless!!!
